After brief Crystal Vol III
For RorPieTh ^ - Science and Nature, Technology - January 7, 2010
Christmas officially ends today. All this time of rampant consumerism is behind and is now up to tighten their belts in more ways than one. In television news was not anything particularly outstanding, in fact have quite sorry, but that does not mean that extraordinary things have not happened.
In this third edition of Short Glass After everything that does not tell us wanted to tell on TV during this holiday.
- And that strong holiday began. On December 24 jumped the big news: We have discovered remains of an unknown civilization in the Amazon River. In an area deforested by humans have appeared about 260 roads, irrigation canals and fencing for animals. These remains found almost on the border between Bolivia and Brazil belong, as I have said, a civilization that there was no news to date.
- Some American scientists earlier this month managed to achieve a major utopias of the physics of fluids: Mix water with oil. It seems that the catalyst has been used for this feat and might improve very considerably cheaper than the processes by which biofuels are obtained.
- In heaven things have been discovered. The Kepler space telescope has been deflowered in the discovery of planets spied 5 new celestial bodies 10 or 20 times larger than Earth and much warmer. I leave the chart of temperature and size of new planets. Do click on image to enlarge it.
- But since these planets are so inhospitable characteristics may interest you if you have intention to go away from the earth, has been discovered on the moon for a very large cave which, according to Japanese scientists, is perfect to host the first human colonies. This is a "lava tube" of 80 meters deep.
- The latest news space is about Apophis, the asteroid that is almost certain it hits the earth from 2030. Apparently the Russians are the first to be initiated to prevent the disaster and are beginning to investigate how to deflect it using the laws of physics rather than nuclear bombs. The Apophis is three times larger than the Tunguska asteroid, which in 1908 struck the Siberian region of Tungusca causing an explosion of between 5 and 30 megatons.
- And finally I want to teach a map that has been made with global data on Internet connections. As you can see Spain is one of the slower connections in the world, only Mexico and Greece are slower than us, and one of the most expensive. Looking at this graph is more than one should hang our heads in shame.

Kit Honda Technology
For RorPieTh ^ - Technology - July 26, 2009
The Japanese firm Honda, generally known for his innovations in the motor world, puts his ideas and technological advances in the service of our day to day. Although it may, I will not talk about the new Honda Insight that helps the environment with its hybrid engine. Instead you talk about inventions that have more to do with our day to day.

Thanks to my friends Bloguzz I have seen the usefulness of Technology Honda Kit, a kit of three inventions that have received, among others, a Gold Award in the latest edition of the awards LAUS.
The inventions are those that, once the evidence, you think they should take years invented because they are completely original. These are:
- ERGONOMIC SUGETABOLSAS. Basis for placing the palm of the hand when no one can help with exchanges
- LEVEL OF TABLES. Carrycot four levels of thickness with which you can stabilize any table, even the dancer.
- OPENER OF CONTAINERS. Opener, thanks to its non-slip material, enables you to concentrate under pressure, however little it is, and uncover any type of container.
I think more of a thinking head would have to stop looking toward Mars and the moon and try to innovate with inventions like these, help to provide our every day a little better. Give it up for the Kit Honda but a slap on the wrist for the rest of humanity for not having invented before something so useful and simple.

A robot controlled by the mind
For RorPieTh ^ - Technology - July 10, 2009
The technology is advancing by leaps and bounds so that every day new machines come out and projects that it has only a handful of years we seem pure science fiction. Businesses and Shimadzu niponas Honda went a step further into the future by presenting a few weeks ago the new version of Asimo, a robot that through technology Brain Machine Interface (BMI) can be controlled by thoughts.

Can you imagine? In a little we can sit comfortably on the sofa, put on our helmet remote control and ask our little friend metal that brings us to the newspaper, prepare dinner or give you feed the dog.
Yes I know, for the moment the good of Asimo is capable of interpreting only four or five basic commands, but this new remote control system has just arrived and promises to bring us stunning new surprises in the future.
